SleepSetupCalc exists to answer the measuring questions that come up when you buy a bed, and that almost nobody answers clearly: what a mattress actually measures, how much room the frame needs, how tall the finished bed ends up, what sheet depth fits, and how much weight a frame is rated to carry.

Why a sizing site rather than another review site

Mattress reviews are among the most contested pages on the web, and they are dominated by large brands and large review sites. We are not trying to out-review them. The layer they do badly is the tool and chart layer: dimensions, fit, clearance, weight capacity and compatibility. That is what this site is for.

Standards versus conventions

Every figure here is labelled one of two ways, and the label appears on the page rather than being buried in a methodology note.

• Standard means a published, industry-wide figure that does not change between manufacturers. US mattress sizes, sheet pocket classes and box spring profiles are standards.
• Convention means widely repeated guidance that is not a measured standard. "Replace every 7 to 10 years", firmness by body weight and the walking-clearance rule are conventions. They are useful defaults and nothing more.

The clearest example of why this matters is firmness. There is no standard test behind the 1 to 10 firmness scale: each manufacturer assigns it to its own range, so the numbers are not comparable between brands. Plenty of sites present it as a specification. It is not one.

How we research

We do not test products in person and we never say we do. Picks are researched from published manufacturer specifications, product listings, stated dimensions and capacities, warranty and trial terms, and the recurring themes in verified owner reviews. Where a manufacturer does not publish a figure, we leave it blank rather than estimate it.

What this site does not cover

Some contexts are better served elsewhere and we deliberately stay out of them: crib and nursery mattresses, adjustable beds framed around senior mobility and caregiving, and orthopedic dog beds. Links to sites that cover those properly are in the footer.
